Skincare and self care

I’ve never really had a strict skincare regime but have always followed the basic rules of cleansing, toning and moisturising my skin twice a day. Now that I’m a mum looking after my skin is still important and I really want to give it my best.

In January I got some Wildseed Botanicals skin care products and I have to say that they are the best products I’ve used on my skin in a long long time. I’ve tried both high end and high street brands and I can honestly say the results from these have been impressive. I’ll take you through what I got and how I use it.

Pink Grapefruit Energising Body Polish

I find this product so luxurious and it has become a staple product that I use without fail every week. Once I’ve showered I smother this all over my skin and rinse away. I then pay away any excess water and I’m done! There’s no need to moisturise my body after that. It leaves my skin with an undeniable glow that lasts all day. My skin just feels so nourished, silky and soft. It really gives you a glow that isn’t greasy looking but just looks healthy and well looked after, I love this stuff!

Green Smoothie Vitamin and Mineral Rich Clay Mask

I use a spatula to scoop a little of this into the palm of my hand and add a little water and mix into a paste. Using my fingers I glide the clay mask all over my face, giving full coverage and avoiding the eye area. I leave it on to harden then remove with a warm soft cloth. I saw results after just one use of this mask. It’s pretty much the most revitalising mask I’ve used. I have used other clay masks that just draw out all the goodness from your skin and leave your skin super dry but this left my skin looking bright and cleansed. It really gave me a deep clean. I also use this product once a week.

Asase Aba Radiance Body Oil

I mix this oil with my moisturising lotion and apply daily to give my body that soft glow. It’s also great for this season when the air is still a bit dry, keeping my skin nice and hydrated throughout the day. This oil isn’t heavy. It’s beautifully light. What I love about all these products is they are all full of ingredients that are good for your skin and they are all natural! You can find a full list of the ingredients and some of the benefits on the Wildseed Botanicals website.

Rānā Regenerative Facial Serum

I’ve saved my favourite product in my collection till last. I’ve been using this day and night for almost 2 months now and I have noticed a real change in my skin. A little of this product does go a long way, so once I’ve cleansed, toned and moisturised I just place 3-4 drops in the palm of my hand, spread and gently press it into my skin ensuring full coverage. I just love the way it makes my skin feel, I feel like I’m feeding it good food haha! My skin has become clearer and feels really moisturised.

These products have really helped me to care for my skin in the way that I should and makes my ‘me time’ just that bit more special. I can’t recommend these products enough. There are others in the range so please do check them out too. You can check out the website here I am really enjoying using these products and just had to wrote a blog post and share.

My 5 top tips for new parents

I truly believe that becoming a parent makes you an expert in YOUR  OWN child. If you pay enough attention and spend enough time with them, you and your partner get to know them better than anyone else. There are some things that I have realised in my 8 and a bit months of parenting that I would like to share. Here they are:

  1. Observe your child and watch for any patterns that develop with their feeding, nappy changes and baths. This may not be possible within the first 8 or so weeks but you will eventually recognise when they respond well to nappy changes and baths. You’ll be able to spot signs for hunger, tiredness or even trapped wind.
  2. Help your baby to feel secure in your arms. You are doing an amazing job and are the best person to be your child’s parent. Babies can sense insecurity, uncertainty and fear. Speak to them in a loving and assuring way, even if they are crying, try your best to remain calm and not get worked up.
  3. Take lots of pictures of your baby as they grow and change because its true what they say- time does really fly and they’ll be a toddler before you know it.
  4. Staying organised will help you to spend more quality time talking to and engaging with your baby. Simply putting a few things in place during the evening for the following day will help you start the day in a more relaxed way. This could be setting up for the morning bath, running a wash through the night or making sure bottles are cleaned/sterilised will all help.
  5. SELF-CARE – this is so so important mums. Take some time out for you! It could be a work-out, going on a short walk alone, having your nails done, a bubble bath. Whatever it may be try and get some time to look after yourself. You need to be in a good place to give your child your best. Agree with your partner a set day or a little time each week to do something yourself, you’ll feel refreshed.

Whats my style anyway?

In light of the a-mazing fashion week designs that have captivated our TV screens and almost every social media platform, I thought it fitting that I touch on this topic. It can take a while for one to define their style, a look that is undeniably unique to you. It could be the way you wear accessorise or how you manipulate colour and patterns. We all have our style inspirations but there’s nothing better than having a look that is completely unique to you. I believe that before you speak your appearance and aura have already spoken and what you wear says A LOT about you. Personally your style is the fashion ‘signature’ you leave in the minds of others. It’s part of your bespoke brand. The dictionary definition calls style ‘a distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed.’ To have style requires an element of boldness, it says no matter what others think this is what I am and what I stand for and I choose to express it in my attire.

My style is classic, I love a pure silk scarf, a crisp white shirt, a good quality pair of jeans and a well made blazer (gosh I sound like a 40 year old lol) but this is my style and one that I am proud of. The classic look never goes out of fashion and is just as strong a statement as the on-trend patterns and cuts we see on catwalks today. Some of my favourite high street brands are French Connection, Reiss and Banana Republic because (for me) they get it right every season with effortlessly sheek style that can easily be re-worked for a day or evening look.

Many people don’t like telling others where they purchased items of clothings or shoes for fear that their ‘style’ may be imitated but the reality is that when you really have a style that stands out its rather difficult to emulate and someone who has style will always strive to take an item and transform it anyway, so I happily share where I buy items from (unless I am totally sure the person will wear it reaalllyyy badly)…kidding! (not kidding lol)

So even if you love the way Rihanna rocks wide-leg trousers or the way Beyonce wore her kimono on holiday, there’s nothing wrong with purchasing something similar but make it your own. We are all created to be beautifully unique and we have the creativity to do so. Embrace who you are and let it flow in your own special way 🙂

Until next time, have a fab weekend!…
