Sublime Prime(r)

As you’ll know from my previous post I recently went to Paris and had the opportunity to visit one of the Sephora stores there. I was really impressed with the wide range of brands that they had, the layout and the overall vibe in there. Having recently stocked the Fenty Beauty range the store was heaving with people ready to purchase the newest and coolest make-up range to hit the shops. Apart from bagging myself one of Rihanna’s new make-up products I also invested in the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

urban decay eyeshadow primer potion

I’ve come to know and trust Urban Decay’s products over the years so was silently confident that this primer wouldn’t disappoint. When I first felt the product on my finger tips I found it to feel quite thin and silky and had a doubt as to whether it could handle not only my hooded but also sometimes oily eyelids. In my experience I’ve also found that there are some eyeshadow primers that only work well with shimmery or glittery eyeshadows as they adhere better but are a let down when matte eyeshadows are in the picture. This isn’t the case with this, it has a small wand brush that makes it super easy to apply on your lid and you need very little. I smooth it out with a concealer brush and give it a few seconds to set then begin applying my eyeshadow. The primer keeps my eyeshadow put all day and it doesn’t matter if its a cheap eyeshadow or one of the more upmarket ones, the results are the same.

I wanted to use this a few times before reviewing it just to be sure that I really do like it and that it actually works and I’m pleased to say it does. I should also add that the beige colour of the primer works very well on dark skin tones too as I know the other Urban Decay primer is lighter and can as a result make your eyeshadows look lighter and brighter than intended.

Overall, I’m pleased with this product and would buy it again. Hope you’ve enjoyed my review, please do let me know your thoughts, comment below or drop me an email at fuschiasequins@gmail.com

Have a lovely evening x

Levels to save time

Depending on how long I have to get ready to leave the house I have developed a ‘level’ grading of what to include or leave out of my make up regime. I thought I’d share my level 1 or basic make-up routine with you and I hope it will help you too.

The Level 1: This is the very basic make up and should take about 20 minutes to complete. I begin by preparing my skin using Kiko Mat Base Corrector Primer. I always always prime my face, no matter how little the make-up, if you have oily skin your foundation will last longer when you’ve prepared your skin well.

I then fill in my brows using the Sleek Browkit. This can be done fairly quickly with a good angled brush, you can pick a good one up at Superdrug for a few pounds. Once I have done this I define my brows using a flat brush from Kiko number 210 using a drop of MAC’s pro longwear concealer mixed with my foundation. I mix the concealer and foundation for a more natural look and to avoid the light halo effect around my eyebrows.

Using a medium sized concealer brush I then blend around the brows to smooth in the concealer/foundation into the area around my brows. I also use this same mixture on my dark areas (underneath my eyes) and moving out along my cheek bone- this is pretty much all the contour I’ll do. You can choose to add some of this vertically down the centre of your face from the middle of your forehead, down your nose and a dab on the middle of your chin to create more contrast. Always blend in with a make up sponge.

Once I’ve defined , I grab my Sephora colourful eyeliner in black and apply. I like my liner to be bold and clean and as I’m not wearing any eyeshadow or lashes, my liner should make the statement :). I follow this with some mascara.

After this I apply my foundation using Zoeva’s brush 104, this gives a beautifully smooth finish.

Then I apply my favourite lip liner and lipstick and I’m ready to go!

With some practice this should take 20 minutes or less and is a great quick make-up routine to complete when you’re in a rush.

Have a great day!

New favourite eyeliner

I like to share great products and tell you why I think they are fantastic, because sharing is caring 🙂 I bought an eyeliner from Sephora in Paris a few months back and I am really really impressed with it. Well I was pretty excited with it before purchase after trying it on the back of my hand, I had a pretty good feeling about it! I haven’t always expected much from make-up brands that stock other brands but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this eyeliner. First of all there are a lot of eyeliners with a matte finish that can be rather dull and end up looking almost grey, this isn’t one of them. The colour is truly black when it dries and is beautifully matte, even over glittery eyeshadows.

The other reason this eyeliner is great is that its the perfect consistency, some eyeliners can be too watery and can run during application; this doesn’t and dries really quickly once applied.

It also washes off really easily and you can create almost any look with it. One down side that I should mention is that its applicator isn’t the best, the fibres on the ends start to fray a little after some time which can be a little annoying when trying to achieve that prefect smooth line, so I do go over it with another liner brush to ensure I have the look that I want.

I love that I can apply this eyeliner on its own without any eyeshadow (and even over my slightly oily eyelids and no primer) I get a flawless matte finish. There are other brands such as Dior who do great eyeliners but if you’re looking for something a little cheaper, Sephora’s colourful eyeliner is a purchase you wont regret. For the MUA’s it comes in lots of cool colours too!

Have a great day!
